The only two teenagers in the Top 25 reached career-highs on the August 3 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Rankings.

Nineteen-year-old Caroline Wozniacki rose to No.8 from her previous high of No.9. It has been a steady rankings ascension for her since joining the Tour in 2005. She entered the Top 100 for the first time in July 2007, cracked the Top 50 in January 2008, became the first Dane reach the Top 20 in August 2008, and finally made the Top 10 in May of this year. Contributing to her ranking this year are many impressive results, including titles in Ponte Vedra Beach and Eastbourne and runner-up showings in Memphis, Charleston, Madrid and Bastad.

Fellow 19-year-old Sabine Lisicki went from her previous career-high of No.25 to No.22 – two spots from her Top 20 debut – after falling to Jelena Jankovic in three sets in the second round in Stanford last week. Her year has been highlighted by her first Tour singles title at Charleston, where she topped Wozniacki in the final, and her first Grand Slam quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon, where she defeated Wozniacki in the round of 16.
