After another disruptive year, Jelena Dokic is playing her way into form as the countdown to the Australian Open begins.
Dokic snared her second ITF tournament win in three weeks after beating talented Swede Sofia Arvidsson to take win the tournament in Poitiers, France.
The week before Dokic was beaten by Arvidsson in the final in Joue-Les-Tours but last month won a $100,000 event in Athens by defeating home-town favourite Eleni Daniilidou in the final.
The 26-year-old began the season with a stirring quarter-final appearance at the Open as a wildcard entry, going down in a tough three-setter to Russian No.1 Dinara Safina.
She returned to the Fed Cup team and was instrumental in helping Australia move up to the World Group II section next year after they defeated Switzerland in Mildura in February.
Dokic then ran into a variety of problems, including bad draws, a back injury and the reappearance of her erratic father Damir.
She fell to Danish top seed Caroline Wozniacki in the first round in Memphis and again in Miami.
In April she withdrew from Ponte Vedra Beach and Charleston in the US with sports fatigue syndrome.
A back injury forced her out of the French Open and Birmingham while she bowed out in the opening round at Wimbledon.
But her consistent recent play has seen her ranking cut to 64 which augurs well for her bid to receive a direct entry into January’s Australian Open.
