Novak is poised to move up to #2!
by bahamaderek on Nov.13, 2009, under Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal
Most of the attention in Paris has been directed to the players who are vying for the final spot in London for the ATP Barclays Final. Soderling, Tsonga and Cilic are all playing today. Almost unoticed, is the defending champion of the 2008 ATP Final that was held in Shanghai, who entered the Paris Masters just 545 points behind Nadal and who could leapfrog over the Spaniard, none other than Novak Djokovic.
A loss by Nadal to Tsonga, a result that should surprise nobody who has watched Nadal’s play this week, coupled with a win by Djokovic in the final, will vault Djokovic into the #2 position behind Federer. Without my calculator I’m not sure if he could go all the way to the top at the year’s end by defending his title in London, but if he does win he will be very close, and one of the players to watch in 2010.
