Clijsters loses to the #258 player!

In a dramatic
, well-played match, a young virtually unknown Spanish player Beatriz Garcia Vidagany eliminated Kim Clijsters from the Andalucia Experience 7-5, 4-6, 6-4. It was no fluke! The young Beatriz, ranked #258 in the world, outplayed Clijsters with a solid display of penetrating ground strokes from both wings.
Who is this lady? and what is her background? She is now into the quarter final, and will be a tough competitor for Sara Errani of Italy. You can be sure that we will see more of this youngster!
This is García Vidagany’s first main draw on the Tour. She had played qualifying twice before but this was the first time she made it out of the pre-tournament, and she won her first Tour-level match in the first round against Kristina Barrois. The 21-year-old lefty, whose win over Barrois was her first over a Top 100 player, didn’t take long to carve out her first career Top 10 win.
