The second day of Collector Swedish Open Women brought a really happy surprise for the crowd. The fifteen year old Swede, Ellen Allgurin, claimed her first victory on the WTA-tour. She beat Ksenia Palkina from Kirgizistan 6-4, 6-4. The big favourite Caroline Wozniacki also made her way to the second round.
3100 spectators had come to the Båstad tennisstadium on Tuesday to watch the matches. Most of them were very pleased with the way Ellen Allgurin was playing. She played her first match on the WTA-circuit and didn’t seem to be affected at all.
“I wasn’t that nervous before the game, it was incredible to play in front of all these people,” she said after the game.
